Helping Students Through Barbecue

Is there anything better than barbecue? How about helping local students by eating barbecue?

Even better.

The Columbia Area Career Center has announced a BBQ fundraiser from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4:30-6:30 p.m. May 4 to support six local students who are advancing to nationals following a great showing at the SkillsUSA Missouri State Conference. The students advancing to the National Leadership & Skills Conference in June in Atlanta are:

  • Eli Hanson for culinary arts;
  • Dora Grafakos for commercial baking;
  • Johnathan Imboden and Christopher King for 3D visualization and animation; and
  • Judah Robbins Bernal and Owen Kington for interactive web application and video game development.

The fundraiser will offer meals for $7 each that include a pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans and chocolate chip cookie. Pick up will be done in a drive thru format at CACC and pre-order is strongly suggested as they will not be able to guarantee food availability for those who walk up. To pre-order, click here.
