The TigerCon Model Contest and Vendor Fair is back for its 11th year in Columbia. This contest celebrates those who make things with their hands in a world where many activities are now virtual. TigerCon finds scale modelers from across Missouri who create intricate model cars, planes, ships and more from kits or from scratch and gives them an opportunity to compete.

Participants will have 25 categories including best in aircraft, best in military and best in automotive. For those who win, there will be a best in show and people’s choice categories as well.

Children ages 8-14 also will have a chance to learn how to build their own scale model on site for no cost and take it home. The contest is from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Hickman High School’s event center. It is $10 to participate but no charge to view and shop at the vendor tables. There also will be a silent auction and a raffle.
