Holiday Events Kick Off This Weekend

Halloween was a hoot, but the page is now turning to Christmas as downtown Columbia prepares to get into the holiday spirit.

The District will host its annual Holiday Shop Hop and Magic Tree Lighting from 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. Saturday. This all-day shopping event includes special offers from some of Columbia’s favorite downtown retailers and complimentary drinks. As the day winds down, enjoy the lighting of the downtown Magic Tree at 7 p.m. in front of Commerce Bank. For more information, visit the event page on Facebook.

On Saturday, The District also will being the return of horse-drawn carriages available throughout the holiday season. Enjoy free holiday rides from 4-7 p.m. Saturday while taking a tour of all the newest and best holiday decorations downtown. The drop-off and pick-up locations are in Wabash Alley by the North Village Court Yard.

The holiday themed rides will continue throughout November and December on weekends leading up to Christmas. For more information, click here.

But if that’s not enough or you just can’t wait til Saturday, consider heading over to the Pierpont General store tonight. The Candy Cane Crib will be lighting up the store tonight around sunset. Before the lighting, enjoy happy hour starting at 3 p.m. and live music at 5:30 p.m.
