Putting The MO In Mozart

Show-Me Opera presents “Le nozze di Figaro” (“The Marriage of Figaro”) by W. A. Mozart on Saturday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at the Missouri Theatre. There will also be a Sunday performance at 2 p.m. at the Missouri Theatre. The opera will be sung in Italian with projected subtitles.

In Mozart’s comedic masterpiece the servant gets the better of his master, and so the work was considered highly revolutionary when it premiered in the late 18th century. Figaro is manservant to Count Almaviva. The Count’s ‘roving eye’ has turned to Susanna, Figaro’s betrothed. Figaro and Susanna join forces with the Countess to concoct a plot that will expose the Count’s philandering and guarantee the newly married couple a chance to live together in happiness.
