(Re)Fresh-Squeezed

You may have noticed that Main Squeeze has been closed for a refresh/remodel. If you missed the posting on the eatery’s website about the changes that are coming, here are details:

The restaurant, our Best of Columbia Gold Winner in the Best Vegan/Vegetarian restaurant category in 2021, will no longer offer made-to-order meals. Instead, it will operate as a “grab-n-go” market, where you can choose plant-based sandwiches, salads and wraps from its new hot case and display cooler. New menu items will be offered, such as vegan Philly cheesesteaks, Thai noodle salads, hot breakfast sammies and more.

Main Squeeze also will have a new retail market section. Besides plant-based foods and plastic-free products, it will offer a fun variety of upcycled items, all in a nod to owner Leigh Lockhart’s desire to encourage sustainability.

Hailed as Columbia’s original vegetarian and vegan restaurant, as well as mid-Missouri’s only cruelty-free kitchen, Lockhart founded Main Squeeze 25 years ago. A staunch animal rights’ supporter, her plant-based menu is her way of helping to protect them.
