Founder's Day Celebration
Alumni and friends of the university met on Jan. 26 at Harpo's to applaud the University of Missouri's beginning at the annual Founder's Day Celebration sponsored by the Boone County Chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association. Zink the Zebra
The Jesse Hall Auditorium stage saw performances of "Zink: the Myth, the Legend, the Zebra" on Jan. 18-20 as a kickoff of University Hospital's "Art in Health Series" in cooperation with P.A.C.E. Cocktail Competition
A huge crowd was on hand for Inside Columbia's second annual Cocktail Competition on Jan. 27. Judges sampled more than 40 drinks to decide who would take home the prize in eight categories.Guests sampled that creative concoctions of the participating bars and restaurants and enjoyed a fashion show with models from Elly's Couture, Girl Boutique, Manhattan Closet and Bingham's. The afternoon ended by awarding the Golden Shakers in each category.

Missouri Art Professors Opening Reception
An opening reception for the Columbia Art League's inaugural show of 2008 was held on Jan. 10 at the Columbia Art League's Ninth Street gallery. The show, which ran through Feb. 23, featured work from Missouri Art Professors working at or retired from universities and colleges across the state.

Missouri Contemporary Ballet Kickoff Party
Doug and Amy Pugh hosted a cocktail kickoff party on Feb. 2 to announce this year's celebrity dancers in Dancing with the Missouri Stars. Van Allen, Barb Glenn, Frank Sovich, Sarah French, Jerome Sally, Scott Croom, Brenda Haynes, Richard King, Yvette Nieto and Steve Hagan will participate in the event, which will be held May 8 at the Hearnes Center. Cosmos Pancake Day
Hundreds of Columbians came together for the annual Cosmos Pancake Day on Jan. 26 to enjoy flapjacks and sausage, as well as to help the Cosmopolitan Club achieve its charitable mission. The Club's international focus is on diabetes and has locally helped build the Cosmopolitan International Diabetes Center at University Hospital.
