Wrath and envy will sit alongside patience and diligence for almost two months downtown. The Seven Deadly Sins and the Seven Holy Virtues have frequently been explored through artistic representations since the 1300s, but come see how the Columbia Art League’s modern artists portray sins and virtues in daily life in the “Seven Deadly Sins (and the Seven Holy Virtues)” exhibition. An opening reception runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Columbia Art League, 207 S. Ninth St. For more information, visit www.columbiaartleague.org or call 573-443-8838.

Time Stands Still
Dates: Feb. 16-19, 23-26, 7:30 p.m. for each performance
Venue: The Berlin Theatre
Cost: $12 Adults, $10 Seniors/Students
“Time Stands Still” focuses on Sarah and James, a photojournalist and a foreign correspondent trying to find happiness in a world that seems to have gone crazy. Theirs is a partnership based on telling the toughest stories, and together, making a difference. But when their own story takes a sudden turn, the adventurous couple confronts the prospect of a more conventional life.
“Donald Margulies’ “Time Stands Still” compellingly demonstrates what a master playwright can do with great economy and efficiency … A rare play that encompasses universal issues and personal problems with equal compassionate insight. A splendid theatrical experience culiminates in the author’s taking now sides and providing no easy answers. What we get is the assiduously impartial, clarifying confrontation of the existential dilemas that confront all of us” – Bloomberg News
