Tips & Trends For Columbia's Fashionistas

TOMS Gets a Trendy Update

TOMS Gets a Trendy Update

Gear up for spring with a pair of upgraded TOMS ballet flats. Blake Mycoskie started TOMS in 2006 after witnessing the poverty of Argentina that prevented children from attending school because they did not have shoes. The company operates with the pay-it-forward philosophy. With every pair of TOMS purchased, Mycoskie and his team will donate a pair to a child in need, a practice the merchandiser calls One For One.

You can find a variety of these styles downtown, and there is a pair for every fashionista. For the conservative dresser, there are the Natalias ($74), a rose-colored linen flat, and the Alessandras ($79), a color-blocked black and burlap linen flat. For the more fashion-forward, there are bright pink, royal blue and leopard print suede flats ($79). Linas, a red, woven tribal pattern are also available ($79).

You can find TOMS ballet flats downtown at American Shoe, 816 E. Broadway and Swank Boutique, 913 E. Broadway.
